About the role

The Deli Manager is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Deli Supervisor/Executive Chef for the successful operation of the Deli Department. You will present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while maintaining our high standards of customer service. Other duties may be assigned based on business volume and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Competent knowledge of all essential functions for all department positions
  • Assist with responsibility for achieving sales and gross profit
  • Assist in maintaining and controlling supplies, inventory, and shrink
  • Responsible for full compliance with the Department Ordering Manual
  • Assist with overall department product quality, rotation, and temperature maintenance
  • Responsible for stocking and merchandising all department products
  • Maintain a sanitary department in all areas
  • Perform proper and preventative maintenance of all deli equipment
  • Prepare salads using established Gerrity’s approved recipes
  • Ensure efficient organization in all areas of the department as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Deli Supervisor/Store Manager
  • Assist with timely completion of all required accounts payable, logs, ads, and other miscellaneous paperwork
  • Assist with communicating department goals to all employees while sharing accountability for achieving them
  • Perform all other duties as directed by the Deli Supervisor
  • Be present at your workstation at the start of your shift
  • Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and enforce the Customer Service Pledge at all times
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and strictly adhere to the Dress Code policy
  • Ensure attendance is consistent, as it is essential to department function
  • Comply with and enforce all policies contained within the Employee Handbook

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, such as pounds and weight increments
  • No minimum educational requirement
  • Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distant vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly required to stand, use full hand and digit functions, reach with hands and arms, and manipulate objects
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency
  • Must be at least 18 years old
