Custodian - 7.5 hrs/day

CUSTODIAN - 7.5 HRS/DAY @ GARFIELD ELEMENTARY HOURS: 3:15 PM - 11:15 PM (except during break periods, then day shift) INTERNAL BIDS THRU 5/27/26 @ 4:00 PM. Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships) Closer Responsibilities Trash removalCleans restroomsCleans all surfacesVacuums all areas- hard & soft surfacesRepositions furniture correctlyDust/vacuum ceiling ventsVacuum upholstered furnitureAssist with deep cleaning during break periods- stripping, scrub & recoat, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture.Removes snow.Minor grounds keepingLawn mowingAssist with delivery of suppliesProperly maintain equipment Reports maintenance issues to HeadProperly use and maintain equipment per owner's manual and or direction from maintenance staffOperates all energy consuming devices in the most efficient manner striving to attain maximum energy conservationMake minor repairs to equipment, building, furniture, hardware, windows etc..Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance departmentResponsible for closing and securing buildingMust establish and maintain a satisfactory working relationship with teachers, students and fellow employeesMust treat fellow workers with respect and facilitate a non-hostile work environmentPerforms other duties as assigned Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV X Yes No) Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs. Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.) Must have high school degree or GEDMust be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasksHave a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipmentAbility to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders.
