Custodian - 8 hrs/day

Internal bids through 8/26/26 at 4:00 PM. External applicants: open until filled. New hire entry-level rate: $18.17/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, refer to the salary schedule established by the bargaining unit.

About the role

Split shift: 4 hours/day at Blue Grass Elementary and 4 hours/day at Buffalo Elementary, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM. Day shift during winter, spring, and summer breaks.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures
• Clean glass
• Dust horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, and blinds
• Wet mop floors, spot clean carpets and hard flooring
• Assist with deep cleaning during break periods (stripping, scrub & recoat, carpet extraction, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture)
• Trash removal
• Remove snow
• Minor grounds keeping and lawn mowing
• Assist with delivery of supplies
• Properly maintain equipment
• Report maintenance issues to Head and Lead custodians
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Clean restrooms

Requirements

• Physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs
• Physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
• High school degree or GED
• Ability to direct others to successfully complete assigned tasks
• Thorough knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
• 1 year of custodial experience
• Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments, and complete electronic work orders

Pay

$18.17/hr (entry-level rate for new hires).

Schedule

8 hours/day (4 hours at each school), 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM. Day shift during winter, spring, and summer breaks.
