About the role

The Eleventh Judicial District & Magistrate Courts are recruiting for a Court Probation Officer Leadworker for the Adult Court Programs located at the Aztec District Court. This position may occasionally work at other court locations in San Juan and McKinley Counties.

Pay

$33.747 per hour or $70,193.76 annually.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, oversee, and train staff in background investigation procedures, documentation processes, and case management.
• Provide direction and assistance to staff; communicate changes in processes, rules, and systems.
• Conduct thorough investigations on defendants/offenders and schedule progress meetings at court-appointed locations.
• Determine defendants/offenders’ needs and establish appropriate treatment support or referrals.
• Monitor defendants/offenders’ compliance at court hearings and with community service program requirements.
• Report, document, and notify the court of compliance, non-compliance, or program violations; recommend appropriate action.
• Maintain current case files and document all interactions with program defendants/offenders and treatment providers in the case management system.
• Attend court proceedings and provide input during court proceedings, meetings with court staff, and other treatment providers.
• Perform scheduled and unannounced site visits (home, work, school, or other locations) to monitor program compliance.
• Track and administer drug and alcohol screens as necessary; maintain alcohol and drug screening protocols, equipment, and supplies.
• Participate in and attend conferences, training, and community outreach and education related to court programs.
• May be assigned supervisory duties under the mentorship of a supervisor or manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Work is performed in an office or court setting.
• A valid driver’s license and travel may be required.
• The assigned work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Regular positive interaction with co-workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field. Four (4) years of directly related or relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience: Four (4) years of experience in criminal justice, social services, or a related field.
• May be required to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire.
• Finalists are subject to criminal background checks.

• Court-ordered rehabilitation or support programs, sentencing guidelines, treatment options, and community services.
• New Mexico law, civil and criminal procedures, and local court rules and procedures.
• Case management, legal terminology, and safety, security, and confidentiality practices.
• Substance abuse and mental health counseling and treatment, mediation techniques, and conflict resolution.
• Investigative techniques, drug screening methods, and electronic monitoring equipment and technology.
• HIPAA, supervisory techniques, and employment law and NM Judicial Branch Personnel Rules.
