Court Probation Officer 1 #10105756-24100, Full-Time, Perm in Aztec, NM

The Eleventh Judicial District & Magistrate Courts are recruiting for one full-time classified Court Probation Officer 1 for the Adult Court Programs located at the Aztec District Court. This position may at times also work at other court locations in San Juan and McKinley Counties. Finalist(s) are subject to criminal background checks.

General Statement of Duties

Acting under general supervision, the Court Probation Officer 1 will be primarily responsible for conducting assessments on defendants/offenders to determine their appropriateness for Court Programs. The Officer will also be responsible for monitoring participant compliance for Court Programs, including conducting field visits to offenders' homes during non-traditional hours, and conducting drug and alcohol screens on offenders/defendants in Court Programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations on defendants/offenders, establish needs, and develop appropriate treatment support plans.
• Participate in scheduled progress meetings at court-appointed locations.
• Monitor defendants'/offenders' compliance at court hearings and with community service program requirements; track and record community service participation.
• Report, document, and notify the court of defendants'/offenders' compliance, non-compliance, or program violations, and recommend appropriate action.
• Maintain current case files and document all interactions with program defendants/offenders and treatment providers in the case management system.
• Perform scheduled and unannounced site visits (home, work, school, or other locations) to monitor program compliance.
• Monitor program compliance utilizing electronic monitoring technology.
• Track and administer drug and alcohol screens, and maintain alcohol and drug screening protocols, equipment, and supplies.
• Participate in and attend conferences, training, community outreach, and educational programs related to court programs.
• Prepare written and oral reports detailing defendants'/offenders' program compliance and make recommendations on future treatment support or referrals.
• Provide input during court proceedings and meetings with court staff and other treatment providers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver's license and travel may be required. The assigned work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee must regularly interact positively with co-workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices. Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Education Substitution: Four (4) years of directly related or relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience in criminal justice, social services, or a related field.
• Experience Substitution: None.
• Other: May be required to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire.

Pay

$27.437 per hour or $57,068.96 annually.
