About the role

Do you want to make a difference by serving as a Corrections Community Center Monitor for the Department of Corrections? In this position, you help maintain a secure and supportive environment for reentrants at the York Community Corrections Center (CCC). You will work with staff, visitors, and community partners to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

This position supports the overall safety, order, and operations of the York CCC by supervising reentrants and maintaining essential security procedures. The role helps promote structure, accountability, and readiness for a successful return to the community. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Monitoring: Observe reentrant behavior, document activities, and conduct searches to maintain a secure environment
  • Security Procedures: Manage movement of reentrants and visitors, maintain logs, and perform scheduled counts and drills
  • Reentrant Support: Provide orientation, explain center rules, check destinations, and assist with steps toward community reintegration
  • Testing Oversight: Administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests and document results according to established procedures
  • Public Interaction: Provide information to visitors, respond to concerns, and assist law enforcement when needed
  • Operational Assistance: Support inspections, maintain supplies, and guide new monitors in carrying out essential duties

Qualifications

You must be willing and able to work in York, York County, Pennsylvania. You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Pay

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
