About the Role

Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Community Center Monitor at the Scranton Community Corrections Center (CCC). This front-line position involves guiding reentrants and supporting daily facility operations in a secure correctional environment. Your role reinforces structure, positive decision-making, and accountability to aid successful reintegration while contributing to a team committed to safety, growth, and meaningful change.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure security of the center and observe reentrant behavior through direct contact and CCTV.
  • Conduct counts, searches, and inspections to maintain order and detect contraband.
  • Lead new reentrant orientation, reviewing policies, schedules, and responsibilities.
  • Verify reentrant destinations, administer tests, and document observations and misconducts.
  • Provide information to visitors and respond appropriately to concerns and complaints.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement and participate in legal proceedings when required.

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year across three work shifts. Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours. Telework is not an option for this position.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work (e.g., protection of persons and/or property, enforcement of rules/regulations/laws, correctional/juvenile/adult detention settings, law enforcement, or military security).
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals (e.g., lead worker, supervisor, informal counseling, or military orders).
