About the role
The CoreValve Therapy Development Specialist provides technical, clinical, educational, and sales support to ensure the safe adoption and growth of the Medtronic CoreValve System and future catheter-based therapy technologies. This role collaborates closely with implanting teams and the Medtronic Catheter-based Therapies (CBT) and CVG field organizations to drive procedural and practice success.
Responsibilities
- Technical and Clinical Support
- Provide clinical expertise for TAVR implanting centers, including scrubbing in for TAVI implant procedures to assist with loading valves onto delivery catheters.
- Offer technical support in accordance with instructions for use, trial protocols, and best practices to ensure procedural consistency and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership for TAVR device procedures and educate implanting teams on proper indications for TAVR procedures.
- Support device suitability assessments with measuring ability and CT reconstruction expertise.
- Deliver comprehensive technical support, including knowledge of imaging modalities (echo/angiography/CT), EKG, blood pressure, waveforms, and ancillary procedural solutions.
- Maintain expertise in clinical trial protocols, CoreValve, and other Medtronic TAVR product instructions for safe and effective use.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive clinical and technical product knowledge, including current TAVR literature and competitive products.
- Serve as a liaison with R&D for technology improvements and next-generation needs.
- Educational Support
- Oversee local education and training activities, including coordinating procedure simulators, facilitating simulated TAVI procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate and facilitate staff in-services covering pre/peri/post TAVI procedures.
- Provide education on the safe and effective use of Medtronic products and proper valve loading instruction.
- Customer Service and Sales Support
- Support district sales strategy by collaborating with sales representatives and managers to achieve business plans within the CBT business unit and broader CVG organization.
- Contribute to a strong team effort and ensure comprehensive technical and customer support within the territory.
- Assist with customer management of inventory ordering, shelf stock, and returns.
- Identify, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with key decision-makers, customers, and administrative staff.
- Participate in customer and society education meetings and conventions.
- Respond to customer requests and resolve complaints promptly and effectively.
- Report device complaints to the proper departments within quality assurance.
- Help drive and maintain quality initiatives and global best-practice initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation and promote a professional company image.
- Professional Development
- Assist in training new hires to the Medtronic CBT team.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Submit accurate and timely expense reports.
- Schedule travel arrangements to accomplish multiple objectives.
- Maintain hospital eligibility and access with various vendor credentialing services.
- Communication
- Maintain a high level of communication with CVG sales and leadership within the assigned geography.
- Communicate market intelligence and competitor activity promptly, including potential sales leads and product pricing.
- Ensure professional standards of written and verbal communication at all times.
Requirements
- Must-Have Qualifications
- High school degree and 6+ years’ experience in a clinical or sales healthcare environment or High School Degree and 6+ years of military experience with honorable discharge.
- Associate’s degree and 4+ years’ experience in a clinical or sales healthcare environment or High School Degree and 4+ years of military experience with honorable discharge.
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience in a clinical or sales healthcare environment or Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of military experience with honorable discharge.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in engineering, nursing, or the sciences.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Science.
- Experience with wires, balloons, catheters, or stents.
- Exceptional understanding of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Experience communicating product market advantages to physicians and hospital administration.
- Experience managing multiple accounts.
- Experience teaching and educating medical personnel, peers, and technical support personnel.
- Imaging interpretation experience (TTE, Trans Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE), CT, Angiograms).
- Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Job Requirements
- Ability to lift 20 pounds.

- Extensive travel by car and plane (50-75% overnight travel, geography variability).
- Valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance policy; driving record will be reviewed.
- Ability to wear a lead apron for long periods (2-3 hours on average).
- Ability to operate a moving vehicle.
- Ability to work in Cath Labs or ORs with radiation exposure.
- Ability to conduct company business outside typical Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM work schedule.
