Role Overview
The Coordinator of Special Projects is a full-time, dual-function role at TCAT Shelbyville. This position combines project management (60%) and classroom instruction (40%). The successful candidate will coordinate institutional initiatives for the President while teaching Technology Foundations courses to adult and high school students across multiple campuses.
Project Coordination
- Serve as a hands-on project coordinator supporting the President and campus leadership across multiple TCAT Shelbyville locations.
- Plan and manage institutional initiatives, develop project timelines, track deliverables, communicate progress to stakeholders, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Support data collection and reporting, assist with grant documentation, and coordinate special events.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners, so clear communication and professionalism are essential.
Instruction – Technology Foundations
- Teach foundational computer applications, digital literacy, and data interpretation to high school and adult students.
- Administer and interpret assessments; communicate results to students and staff.
- Maintain accurate records and collaborate with staff to support student retention and program completion.
- Maintain instructional materials and participate in curriculum updates.
- Keep required certifications current and engage in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in project coordination, instruction, or administration.
- Experience in teaching foundational reading, writing, or math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or a public sector environment.
- Experience teaching adult learners or technical/foundational courses.
- Familiarity with project management tools, data reporting, or compliance functions.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Banner.
