About the role

The Coordinator of Athletic Operations oversees event/game management responsibilities in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Facilities and Event Ops. They serve as the department’s primary liaison with campus & community partners for special events & projects. They also assist in planning, coordinating, marketing, and staging university-sponsored sports camps.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of event/game management responsibilities in concert with the Assistant AD for Facilities and Event Ops.
  • Serve as the department’s primary liaison with campus & community partners for special events & projects.
  • Work in conjunction with athletic coaches and other university staff to plan, coordinate, market, and stage university-sponsored sports camps.
  • Aid the Manager for Athletic Facilities on all Physical Plant & IT work orders and project coordination.
  • Serve as athletic department liaison to NCAA, GLIAC, CCHA, MHSAA, and outside groups for all special event bids and hosting opportunities.
  • Oversee facility scheduling of non-ice facilities and create and maintain a positive environment between all campus & community user groups.
  • Provide scheduling and revenue-producing oversight in billing and accounts receivable, where all non-ice athletic facility rental income is concerned.
  • Develop, supervise, and implement an internship program for operations & facilities.
  • Provide statistical analyses and prepare reports.
  • Aid as needed with facility management, athletic ticketing, and overall event operations, including facility tournament administration.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial accounts, as well as the preparation of budget reports.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
  • Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
  • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Operate a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Represent Ferris State athletics by serving on various committees and/or attending meetings at the request of the Athletic Director and the Assistant AD for Facilities & Operations.
  • Aid in the coordination of athletic camp payroll, employment processes, and submission of all necessary camp personnel forms and paperwork.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of athletic events, camps, and/or athletic facility management experience.
  • Revenue generation experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or at least two years of college, and currently working on completing a Bachelor's Degree.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent organizational & communication skills (both written and oral).
  • The ability to effectively manage staff in event operations, facilities management, and athletic camp settings.
  • The ability to provide solid customer service to diverse constituents and user groups.
  • The ability to be proactive and work collaboratively with multiple user groups.
  • The ability to work varied hours, which include weekends, nights, and travel when required.
