About the role
The Commodity Manager will lead the supplier relationship management, negotiate contracts, monitor market trends, and implement procurement strategies to optimize the mechanical supply.
Responsibilities
- Forecast and strategically source mechanical supply
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply
- Hold quarterly business reviews with suppliers at their location
- Negotiate agreements to secure competitive pricing and favorable payment terms
- Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and global supply conditions to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with Legal and Procurement to review and finalize contract terms, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
- Manage copper inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory
- Analyze procurement data, market trends, and supplier performance metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to support new product development initiatives and ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards
- Lead, train, and mentor the supply chain team
- Place purchase orders as required
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commodity management
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP or Epicor)
- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to Senior Leadership
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills
- Able to work well under pressure maintaining a customer-focused mindset
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
