About the role
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, not-for-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving and restoring 18th-century Williamsburg, Virginia's colonial capital. Founded in 1926, the Foundation engages, informs, and inspires visitors through its extensive collection of historical sites, museums, and research resources.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service.
- Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials.
- Suggest wine and other beverages.
- Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Two years server experience in a full-service restaurant.
- Excellent public contact skills including tact, courtesy, and patience.
- Ability to meet the standards listed below:
- Satisfy customers under all circumstances.
- Communicate effectively.
- Read and write, perform basic mathematical computations, and memorize the food and beverages offered.
- Learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests.
- Bending, lifting, stooping;
- Carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Extensive use of stairs.

Schedule
Part-time, up to 40 hours per week upon entering a 90-day Part-Time Probationary status. Becomes eligible for Full-Time status after completing the probationary period.
