COCKTAIL SERVER - SWEET TEA & BARLEY

About the role

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation seeks a part-time server to join our team in the Historic Area. Founded in 1926, we are a leading museum complex that engages visitors in learning about the past through our restored colonial capital and world-class museums.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service.
• Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials.
• Suggest wine and other beverages.
• Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C.4.1-3071.
• Two years server experience in a full service restaurant.
• Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience.
• Ability to meet the standards listed below; satisfy customers under all circumstances; communicate effectively; read and write, perform basic mathematical computations and memorize the food and beverages offered; learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests.
• Physical requirements include but are not limited to: bending, lifting, stooping; carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds; extensive use of stairs.
• Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card and TIPS® certification; applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during the interview process.
• In accordance with Virginia A.B.C. 4.1-225, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation prohibits employment of anyone in an alcohol serving position who has been convicted of a felony, any crime involving moral turpitude (lying, cheating, or stealing), or a drug-related offense within the past five (5) years.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Skills

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Colonial Williamsburg’s history and culture.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

Upon being hired for this position, you will enter a 90-day Part-Time Probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week. After completing the probationary period, you will become eligible for Full-Time status with benefits.

Pay

$11.09 per hour
