About the role
The Beverage Cocktail Server provides fast, friendly, and courteous service to every customer while taking and serving beverage orders in assigned areas such as dining rooms, lounges, or the casino floor. This role requires interacting with the public, speaking English clearly, and remembering details, along with physical exertion including walking, standing, turning, bending, lifting, and carrying.
Responsibilities
- Pleasantly take beverage orders from guests in assigned areas.
- Present orders to the bartender, write checks properly, and serve beverages to guests, including in slot and pit areas.
- Present checks to guests, accept payment, and provide change when necessary.
- Maintain the server’s station in a neat, clean, and sanitary condition at all times.
- Be knowledgeable of casino promotions and events to answer customer questions.
- Inform customers about forthcoming special events and other facilities, such as food service.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Garnish drink orders at the service area and deliver drinks to players.
- Balance trays with drinks weighing up to ten (10) pounds when full, using one hand while serving with the other.
- Circulate throughout the designated station to take drink orders and remember customers and their drinks.
- Place drink orders at the service bar and communicate effectively with bartenders.
- Reach and bend between players to serve drinks, collect empty glasses, and clean ashtrays.
- Keep the service station clean and fully stocked.
- Walk continuously, including up and down short stairs or ramps.
- Observe and identify when a customer is too intoxicated.
- Clean up glasses in the surrounding area at the end of the shift.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- High school diploma or its equivalency preferred.
- Two (2) years of previous customer service experience required.
- Two (2) years of serving experience in a bar or restaurant setting required.
- Bartending experience preferred.
- Must possess an outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful, accommodating disposition.
- Must adhere to the SGC Shoe policy for all Beverage Cocktail Servers.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino for extended periods.
- Ability to balance trays with drinks weighing up to ten (10) pounds when full, using one hand while serving with the other.
- Requires reaching, bending, and physical stamina to work under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment.
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud but can increase to loud on the casino floor.
- Must maintain proper mental attitude to effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
Pay
Starting rate: $10.70 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
