About the Role
The Co-worker Health Nurse is a critical role that works closely with all co-workers from day one. This position plans, organizes, directs, and performs all activities of the co-worker health services in concert with federal and state requirements and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- Process new co-workers for a health assessment at hire, including pre-employment drug testing, health medical history, lab work, chest x-ray (if indicated), and immunization status.
- Support and administer the co-worker TB skin screening program in compliance with state regulations.
- Perform respirator fit testing and training as indicated.
- Promote and administer annual Influenza and other vaccines to all co-workers working in the facility.
- Provide first aid to employees as necessary and work closely with co-workers following on-the-job injuries to provide quality care and follow-up.
- May serve as Workers' Compensation coordinator, following state commission rules and regulations, depending on work location.
Requirements
- 2 years' hospital or clinical experience required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN).
- Active nursing license in Oklahoma (LPN or RN).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred but will be provided by Mercy after hire if not already certified.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
Schedule
PRN (flexible hours and scheduling). Department is open Monday-Friday only, with no evenings or weekends.
