About the role
The Cluster Security Manager (CSM) role within the AWS Datacenter Operations Physical Security team is designed for a forward-thinking, results-oriented leader who can develop strategy, execute, and lead data center security operations across multiple sites. You will implement and verify compliance with security procedures, standards, and policies while optimizing physical security effectiveness. This role involves championing new initiatives, overseeing implementation with cross-functional teams, and driving process improvements to enhance security and reduce costs. The ideal candidate will operate with autonomy, creativity, and discretion, influencing high standards and defining structure where none exists.
Responsibilities
- Adapt to a dynamic operational environment driven by changing customer requirements, build schedule changes, and evolving security threats.
- Interact with demanding customers and meet short-notice deadlines while balancing physical and logical data protection.
- Build trust and maintain customer relationships with data center business partners to execute a comprehensive security strategy.
- Plan, develop, and implement security programs such as Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Physical Security, and Incident Management.
- Coordinate site investigations with the Global Intelligence and Investigative team.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of industry trends, current security issues, and technology to update management on risks and threats.
- Perform continual risk analysis for data center sites, focusing on crime, terrorism, workplace violence, and natural or man-made disasters.
- Provide leadership and best practices on security policy to on-site data center management.
- Identify vulnerabilities early and design strategies to close security gaps.
- Offer clear guidance to AWS Data Center staff and contract security personnel to achieve strategic security objectives.
- Support regional and global security leadership in investigating significant threats or asset losses.
- Develop and implement security standards and procedures for contract site security coordinators.
- Liaise with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies for data center locations.
25% travel required, both domestic and international.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of physical security experience.
- 5+ years of security management experience.
- 5+ years of leadership role experience.
- Fluent in English (speaking, writing, and reading).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a leadership role within physical security.
- Experience managing a team of individual contributors.
- 5+ years of physical security experience.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $128,600.00 - $173,900.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
