About the role

Facilitates communication between patients, staff and physicians. Schedules hospital outpatient procedures and admissions in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Sit for long periods of time, stoop, bend and stretch for files and supplies.
  • Occasionally lift files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment.
  • View terminal for long periods without eyestrain or stress.
  • Speak clearly and concisely.
  • Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians and the public.
  • Follow organization’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical business office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
  • Skills in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
  • Ability to answer the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians and the public.
  • Effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
