About the role

Serves as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians. Manages scheduling of hospital outpatient procedures and admissions.

Responsibilities

  • Sit for long periods of time, stoop, bend, stretch for files and supplies.
  • Lift files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other office equipment.
  • View computer screens for long periods without eyestrain or stress.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely via telephone.
  • Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians, and the public.
  • Adhere to the organization's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year work experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical business office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information.
  • Ability to operate a computer and photocopy machine.
  • Ability to answer the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians, and the public.
  • Knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Effective work habits including regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.

Skills

  • Knowledge of medical business office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
