About the role

Facilitates communication between patients, staff and physicians. Schedules hospital outpatient procedures and admissions in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Sits for long periods of time, stoops, bends and stretches for files and supplies
  • Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Operates a keyboard, operates a calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment
  • Views terminal for long periods of time without eyestrain or stress
  • Speaks clearly and concisely
  • Reads, understands, and follows oral and written instructions
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians and the public
  • Keeps up-to-date with organization's policies and procedures

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting preferred
  • Knowledge of medical business office procedures and practices desirable
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
