About the role
Facilitates communication between patients, staff and physicians. Schedules hospital outpatient procedures and admissions in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Sits for long periods of time, stoops, bends and stretches for files and supplies.
- Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operates a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment.
- Views terminal for long periods without eyestrain or stress.
- Speaks clearly and concisely.
- Reads, understands, and follows oral and written instructions.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians and the public.
- Knows the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Shows effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical business office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
- Skills in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, supervisors, physicians and the public.
- Knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures.
