Essential Functions of the Role
- Staff Management: Supervise and lead a team of nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring optimal staffing levels. Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure professional development and accountability.
- Patient Care: Oversee patient care services, ensuring that nursing staff adheres to clinical standards and delivers compassionate, high-quality care to patients. Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as needed.
- Quality Improvement: Develop and implement protocols to improve patient care and operational efficiencies. Conduct regular audits and evaluations of care practices to ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that the nursing department is in full compliance with state, federal, and organizational policies and healthcare regulations. Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulatory changes affecting patient care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Act as a liaison between the nursing team, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care. Communicate changes in protocols, patient conditions, or staffing needs to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- Training and Development: Lead training initiatives for new and existing staff, ensuring that all nursing personnel are up to date on licensing, best practices, clinical procedures, and safety protocols. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise within the nursing team, with patients, or between departments, ensuring that the department runs smoothly and professionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient care standards, and quality improvement processes.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technology.
Physical Requirements
- Travel between multiple practice locations as needed
- Stand or walk for extended periods when observing nursing staff, conducting rounds, or participating in staff meetings and training sessions at different practice locations.
- Sit for extended periods during meetings, report reviews, or administrative tasks, such as managing schedules, budgets, and compliance documentation.
- Use office equipment (computers, phones, and fax machines) and other technology tools required for administrative tasks.
- Frequently lift of light materials (up to 20-25 pounds) and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with the capacity to handle a variety of administrative and clinical responsibilities across multiple locations. This includes responding to emergencies, managing staff needs, and addressing any compliance or regulatory concerns.
