Clinical Assistant - Newborn Special Care Unit
About the role
The Newborn Special Care Unit (NSCU) at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children provides continuous care to newborns up to three months old, focusing on the complex psychosocial needs of both the child and their family. The Clinical Assistant role involves performing a variety of nursing and health care procedures, as well as certain clerical services.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of nursing and health care procedures
- Collaborate with the Neonatology team to care for premature babies and newborns requiring special care
- Deliver support and education to patients and families in a supportive environment
- Work in a night shift schedule of 12 hours
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of nurse aide course with certification OR completion of nursing fundamentals
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card
- One year of clinical experience OR successful completion of HPH Nurse Aide Program
- Current Hawaii Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate
- One year clerical experience in a healthcare setting
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with one year of clinical experience or a successful completion of the HPH Nurse Aide Program.
Skills
Excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, and a strong commitment to patient care are essential.
