Registered Nurse - Newborn Special Care Unit
About the role
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn, and pediatric specialty hospital. It is recognized as Hawai'i's leader in women, infant, and child care. The hospital has 253 beds and delivers approximately 6,000 babies annually. It also serves as a medical teaching and research facility, offering specialized services like intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport, and high-risk perinatal care.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing services through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care in the Newborn Special Care Unit (NSCU).
- Function as an associate to a charge nurse, and eventually assume charge nurse responsibilities.
- Care for premature babies and newborns requiring special care under the guidance of the Neonatology team.
- Deliver support and education to patients and families in an environment that promotes bonding within the family unit.
Requirements
- Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License.
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR cards.
- One (1) year recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in a Special Care Nursery (NICU II).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards.
- More than two (2) years recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in a Special Care Nursery (NICU II).
