About the role

Assists the Childcare Specialist with planning and operating the before- and after-school program, and supervises children.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community.
  • Prepare the site and activities prior to children’s arrival.
  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Administer first aid when necessary.
  • Treat every child with respect and maintain behavior consistent with district and program policy.
  • Keep the Childcare Specialist informed of student activities.
  • Participate in clean-up activities.
  • Complete a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually, per Department of Health Services regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must meet staff qualifications to be a teacher-caregiver under section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and provide written documentation of one of the following:
    • A high school diploma or equivalency diploma and six months of qualifying childcare experience; or
    • At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least 6 credits in early childhood education, plus six months of qualifying childcare experience; or
    • N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential; or
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field.
  • Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Background in early childhood education or related fields.
  • Hold current first aid and CPR certification or be able to obtain within 30 days.

  • Repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time; walking and standing only occasionally.

Return-to-work retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed without falling below minimum wage.
