FLSA status: Non-Exempt. Hours: 2:15 pm – 6:15 pm.
About the role
Assists the Childcare Specialist with planning and delivering the before- and after-school program and supervising children.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and the community.
- Prepare the site and activities before children arrive.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Treat every child with respect and enforce behavior standards consistent with district and program policy.
- Keep the Childcare Specialist informed of student activities.
- Participate in clean-up activities.
- Complete a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually per Department of Health Services regulations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet staff qualifications to be a teacher-caregiver under section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and provide written documentation of one of the following:
- A high school diploma or equivalency diploma plus six months of qualifying child-care experience; or
- At least 12 college credits from an accredited institution, including 6 credits in early-childhood education, plus six months of qualifying child-care experience; or
- N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential; or
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in early-childhood education, child development, or a closely related field.
- Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Background in early-childhood education or related fields.
- Current first-aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Physical requirements
- Reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; sitting most of the time with only occasional walking or standing.
Pay
Return-to-work retirees receive an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed, without falling below minimum wage.
