About the Role

This position assists the Childcare Specialist with planning and supervising the before and after school program for children.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and the community.
• Prepare the site and activities prior to children’s arrival.
• Supervise children at all times and administer first aid when necessary.
• Treat every child with respect and maintain behavior consistent with district and program policy.
• Keep the Childcare Specialist informed of student activities.
• Participate in clean-up activities.
• Complete a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually per Department of Health Services regulations.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must meet staff qualifications to be a teacher-caregiver under section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and provide written documentation of one of the following:
  • A high school diploma or equivalency diploma and six months of qualifying childcare experience; or
  • At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least 6 credits in early childhood education and 6 months of qualifying childcare experience; or
  • N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential; or
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field.
• Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
• Background in early childhood education or related fields.
• Hold current first aid and CPR certification or be able to obtain within 30 days.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking and standing required.

11:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay

Pay Grade: F (FLSA Status: Non-Exempt). Return-to-work retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed without falling below minimum wage.
