Chaplain Resident
Job Summary and Qualifications
The chaplain resident works under the supervision of a CPE supervisor, associate supervisor, or certified candidate, participating in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program in accordance with ACPE Standards and the policies and guidelines of the Department of Pastoral Care and Education. They provide spiritual care, support, and education for patients, their loved ones, and staff, ensuring religious and spiritual needs are met. Responsibilities include program planning and implementation, maintaining communication within the department, supporting departmental and organizational goals, and applying relevant policies.
- Completes required activities and maintains ACPE standards of the Clinical Pastoral Education program.
- Provides pastoral care for patients and families and friends.
- Provides pastoral care for medical center staff.
- Maintains communication within the department and with other teams or departments.
- Serves as a liaison with clergy and other faith groups.
- Makes recommendations for continuous improvement of processes and services.
- Serves as a representative of the chaplain resident program.
Required Job Qualifications
- Graduation with a bachelor’s degree or ordination by a faith community or commission to function in ministry by an appropriate religious authority as determined by ACPE.
- Master’s degree in divinity or related field.
