Chaplain Resident
About the role
The Chaplain Resident is a student enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital or continuing no longer than 6 months after completing a fourth unit of CPE, as mutually agreed upon by the resident, ACPE Supervisor/Program Coordinator, and Spiritual Care Program Director. The Resident participates as a peer to the CPE Chaplain Interns and develops pastoral care skills under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Practice compassionate and effective spiritual support to patients, families, and staff members addressing needs resulting from illness or injury.
- Relate to the Chaplain Services team and multidisciplinary teams as a practicum student.
- Affordably assist in addressing the spiritual/religious needs of patients and families while under supervision.
- Adequately pursue the objectives of MHS Chaplain Services and CPE program as described in the Standards of The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in theology, ministry, pastoral studies, or related human services field.
- Completion of 1 Unit ACPE CPE.
- Sufficient ministry experience or its equivalency to demonstrate readiness and predisposition.
- Endorsement by faith group for hospital chaplaincy (preferred).
