Chaplain Resident
About the role
The Chaplain Resident is a student enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital or within six months of completing a fourth unit of CPE. The Resident works under the supervision of the ACPE Supervisor/Program Coordinator to develop pastoral care skills and practice compassionate spiritual support to patients, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Participates as a peer to CPE Chaplain Interns
- Develops pastoral care skills under supervision
- Provides spiritual support to patients, families, and staff members
- Assists in addressing the spiritual/religious needs of patients and families
- Adequately pursues the objectives of MHS Chaplain Services and the CPE program
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in theology, ministry, pastoral studies, or related human services field
- One Unit ACPE CPE
- Sufficient ministry experience or its equivalent to demonstrate readiness and predisposition
- Endorsement by a faith group for hospital chaplaincy (preferred)
