Chaplain Resident
About the role
The First Year Chaplain Resident functions as a team member of the Spiritual Care Department and establishes collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary care team, other professionals and the community. The estimated start date is August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Responds to the spiritual needs of patients, families and staff of all faith traditions throughout the organization
- Provides interfaith spiritual care through visitation, crisis intervention, prayers, sacraments as needed and appropriate, bereavement and end-of-life support, life-reviews, spiritual care consultation around existential questions, spiritual and religious rituals, worship services and staff support
- Understand that we exist for the patients and their care is the number one priority
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family members
- Participate in the professional training program such as the action-reflection-new action process, written requirements and group participation to complete the educational requirements for chaplaincy certification
Requirements

- College degree BA/S, MDiv/equivalent, graduate studies in theology, religion, counseling, psychology or spirituality
- Be ordained or commissioned to function in ministry by an appropriate religious authority as determined by ACPE
- One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited CPE center
