Chair, Department of Neurology
About the role
The Chair of the Department of Neurology is responsible for directing nearly 200 full-time and associated faculty engaged in a comprehensive range of clinical activities organized into 20 clinical divisions and programs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee 12 facilities and manage over 70,000 outpatient visits annually.
- Manage over 1,800 inpatient discharges and nearly 12,000 consults on the inpatient service.
- Coordinate the tripartite mission of Penn Medicine’s 18 clinical departments through membership on the Board of Directors of CPUP.
- Develop and execute innovative strategies to enhance clinical operations and faculty development.
Requirements
- MD degree with active board certification in neurology.
- Qualify for faculty appointment as Associate Professor or Professor rank in the Standing Faculty of the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM).
- Strong leadership skills suited to a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective clinical operations.
- A highly respected academic record.
- A commitment to faculty development, retention, and recruitment.
- Experience in development and donor relations.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold an MD degree with active board certification in neurology. Dual degrees are welcome.
