About the role
The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking the next Chair. The department is a unique and integrated structure, encompassing Neurology and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) as two distinct yet deeply interconnected entities within a single academic department.
Responsibilities
- Expand high impact clinical programs and innovative diagnostic services
- Grow the research infrastructure
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations
- Strengthen departmental culture to support faculty engagement and retention
- Develop and communicate a vision for the future of the department
- Direct and oversee the quality and effectiveness of the department’s educational programs
- Recruit, manage, evaluate, develop, and retain talented faculty
- Foster a congenial, mentoring environment in which trainees, faculty, and staff all feel supported and empowered
- Manage the financial performance and long-term fiscal stability of the department’s academic and clinical practice budgets
- Seek opportunities to increase philanthropic support for the department and College of Medicine
Requirements
- MD or MD/Ph.D. degree
- American Board of Neurology certification
- Medical license in the State of Ohio
Qualifications
- Track record of mentoring trainees and junior faculty to successful careers in Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine
- Encourages and supports investigation and innovation, scholarly activities, and productivity
- Experience implementing initiatives to promote and increase extramurally funded research
- Experience leading clinical services and ensuring clinical excellence
- Experience in developing and maintaining a strategic plan and goals that align with those of the College of Medicine, UC Health, UC Physicians, VA Medical Center, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
