About the Role
Pieper Veterinary is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center, a VECCS Level I Facility in Middletown, CT. In this role, you will work alongside expert oncologists, supporting advanced treatments and therapies that give pets the best chance at recovery and an improved quality of life. Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, and patient restraint.
- Provide ongoing client communication, following patients throughout their treatment.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality care and contribute insights to improve patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of procedures for scheduling patients, receiving and treating patients, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
- Use, care for, and store veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Apply sterilization techniques for instruments and materials.
- Prepare and provide tableside assistance using standardized procedures and instruments.
Requirements
- Associate's in veterinary technology is a plus.
- CVT license required (required for sign-on bonus).
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring.
- Experience or knowledge in Oncology and chemotherapy is a plus.
- Familiarity with CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and accept direction on assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of client service principles, including needs assessment and quality standards.
- Proficiency in English language, including grammar and composition.
Schedule
Full-time position: 4 days a week / 10-hour shifts. Holidays are required.
Pay
Starting at $25.00-$32.00/hour, dependent upon experience and education. Additional compensation for VTS. Sign-on bonus of $1,000.
