Licensed Veterinary Technician - Oncology ($3,000 Sign-On Bonus!)

About the role

As An Oncology Technician, you will perform various tasks including physical exams, administering chemotherapy, and assisting with patient care. You will also be responsible for maintaining hospital operations and staying updated on medical advancements.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exam; accurately count vital signs and alert doctors of abnormalities.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheters and calculate dosages for chemotherapy administration.
• Administer oral and SC/IM chemotherapy agents safely and correctly.
• Shave and wrap patients for chemotherapy infusions and manage chemotherapy extravasation.
• Admit and discharge oncology patients, providing basic client education.
• Maintain a solid grasp of veterinary medical terms and abbreviations.
• Assist with anesthesia and monitoring equipment for ASA I or II classified patients.
• Stay current on CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated roles.
• Maintain hospital stock, cleanliness, and daily operations.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in veterinary technology, a passion for oncology, and excellent communication skills. A current, unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Washington is required.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include experience with oncology-specific protocols, familiarity with anesthesia and monitoring equipment, and a working knowledge of R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines.

Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a solid understanding of veterinary medical terms and abbreviations are also beneficial.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $25.63 - $49.19 per hour, with the pay band dependent on work experience and advancement through our Kahuna leveling program.

Schedule

This position is full-time, with a schedule of Tuesday - Friday.
