About the role

As An Oncology Technician, you will perform various tasks including physical exams, administering chemotherapy, and client education. You will also maintain the hospital's daily operations and stay updated on the latest medical terms and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exam; accurately count vital signs and alert doctors of abnormalities.
  • Place peripheral intravenous catheters and safely dispense chemotherapy agents.
  • Administer oral and SC/IM chemotherapy agents, ensuring correct dosages and calculations.
  • Shave and wrap patients for chemotherapy infusions and manage chemotherapy extravasation.
  • Admit and discharge oncology patients, providing basic client education.
  • Converse with veterinary professionals in medical terms and address client concerns.
  • Facilitate incoming calls and demonstrate knowledge of tumor types and diagnostic protocols.
  • Assist with anesthesia and monitoring, and remain proficient in CPR guidelines.
  • Maintain hospital stock, cleanliness, and overall day-to-day operations.

Requirements

To qualify, you must have a passion for oncology, a strong background in veterinary medicine, and a current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Washington. Experience in oncology is preferred but not required. A solid understanding of veterinary medical terms and abbreviations is essential.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in veterinary medicine, preferably in oncology. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are crucial, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

Proficiency in chemotherapy administration, IV catheter placement, and client education are key skills for this role. Knowledge of R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and the ability to work under pressure are also important.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $25.63 - $49.19 per hour, with the potential for advancement through our Kahuna leveling program. The pay band is dependent on work experience and advancement.

Schedule

This position offers a flexible schedule from Monday to Thursday. The exact hours may vary based on hospital needs.
