About the role
Under medical supervision, administers general and regional anesthesia for various surgical and obstetric procedures across all age groups, including neonatal to geriatric patients. Responsibilities include airway management, fluid and homeostasis maintenance, monitoring, emergency response, and ventilator management.
Responsibilities
- Upholds policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Performs pre-operative patient evaluations and reviews charts.
- Collaborates with anesthesiologists to select appropriate anesthetic agents.
- Monitors intraoperative and postoperative patient conditions, ensuring safety and stability.
- Checks and prepares anesthesia equipment and drugs.
- Administers anesthesia within authorized privileges and responds to emergencies.
- Precepts student nurse anesthetists and maintains accurate controlled substances records.
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and fosters courteous interactions with staff and patients.
- Performs additional duties within licensure scope as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program.
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) and RN license.
- Certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in anesthesia for major procedures, including extensive monitoring and fluid management across all age groups.
- Strong technical, clinical, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Recent obstetric anesthesia experience, especially spinal and epidural placement.
