About the role
The Certification Specialist supports site staff and handles compliance duties, assisting with certifications, audits, and resident certifications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct applicant/resident certification interviews and gather all eligibility documents.
- Complete and submit certification files to third-party auditors with high accuracy for quick approval.
- Timely processing of certification files.
- Maintain positive, professional, and effective communication with onsite staff, Regional Managers, and Compliance team members.
- Provide timely responses to Community Managers, Regional Managers, Compliance Specialists, and Compliance Directors.
- Assist with the initial qualifying process of new construction lease-up properties, re-syndications, and/or acquisitions/rehab of existing properties.
- Overnight and air travel may be required.
- Enforce community rules and regulations, comply with Fair Housing Laws, and adhere to Management's Dress Code Policy.
- Communicate professionally with employees, residents, prospective residents, clients, vendors, and guests while representing Asset Living.
- Meet all training requirements for the position (Grace Hill, Safety Meetings, etc.).
- Perform any and all functions as directed by the supervisor, including special project assistance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years' experience with affordable housing programs and regulatory compliance in one or more programs such as LIHTC, HUD programs, USDA-Rural Development, HCD, HOME Funds and Bonds.
- Experience with rent, income, and utility allowance adjustments and updates.
- A High School diploma or equivalency certificate.
- A college degree in a relatable field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in property management.
- Affordable Housing/Tax Credit certification, preferred (C3P, HCCP, HCP-E, COS, TCS, CPO, FHC, NAHP, NAHPe, SCHM, etc.).
- A valid Driver's License, a good driving record, current motor vehicle insurance meeting State requirements, and an operable vehicle meeting Driving Standards and Personal Vehicle Use policy.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Google Apps, property management-related software, email, internet).
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with affordable housing programs and layering, and regulatory compliance in one or more programs such as: LIHTC, HUD programs (Project Based Section 8, Section 236, PRAC, 811 PRA), USDA-Rural Development (515), HCD, HOME Funds and Bonds.
- Must also have experience with rent, income and utility allowance adjustments and updates.
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate required.
- College degree in a relatable field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the field of property management.
- Affordable Housing/Tax Credit certification, preferred (C3P, HCCP, HCP-E, COS, TCS, CPO, FHC, NAHP, NAHPe, SCHM, etc.).

Pay
$22 per hour to $24 per hour
Schedule
This is a full-time position.
