About the Role
Responsible for driving the business plans and strategies developed by the General Manager into day-to-day implementation and action plans, as well as managing an optimal customer experience. Provides operational support, facility maintenance, and leadership in the absence of the GM and Directors.
Responsibilities
- Use independent judgment in making employment-related and business decisions, including product and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or resolving Partner-related matters.
- Manage mid-level managers, Operations Manager, and lower-level managers, including coaching and training new Partners. Accountable for supervision of Partners in the Maintenance Department.
- Apply expert subject matter knowledge to complex business issues across multiple functional areas; regarded as a subject matter expert internally and externally.
- Develop guidelines and procedures to set future precedent and direction in alignment with GM’s expectations.
- Assist in strategy development for the Maintenance Department and set policy and direction.
- Lead cross-functional teams and projects.
- Conduct store walks, take corrective action, elevate issues, and ensure operational standards are consistently met.
- Monitor and communicate closing and opening shift issues.
- Identify and address facility maintenance issues throughout the interior and exterior of the store to ensure prompt repair or replacement.
- Maintain a presence in the store, build relationships with Customers, and assist Store Leadership in maintaining positive Partner morale and retention.
- Manage store conditions (inside and outside) to create a safe, clean, and unobstructed shopping experience for Customers and work environment for Partners.
- Respond to Customer emergency issues, requests, and concerns, and resolve Partner issues, including accidents and scheduling conflicts.
- Supervise and manage Operations Managers and the Maintenance team to meet budget, schedule, and performance objectives.
- Monitor, report, document, and track all store maintenance issues, facility, and/or equipment.
- Act as first responder to equipment issues—troubleshoot, investigate root causes, and ensure simple solutions are exhausted.
- Meet with Facility Maintenance Partners to discuss work assignments and evaluate project priorities.
- Ensure cooler temperatures are maintained at appropriate levels (MicroTherm) and all equipment is in safe working condition.
- Address customer incidents relating to product safety or quality.
- Train Operations Managers on loss prevention procedures and act as the point of contact for loss prevention and enforcement issues.
- Prioritize potential issues and determine appropriate courses of action or inaction as set by the GM.
- Identify shrink opportunities and take immediate corrective action or report to the GM.
- Maintain store security and handle issues as they occur, collaborating with store security and local law enforcement to minimize theft and disruptions.
- Ensure all tills are balanced at the close of business.
- Prepare Capital Requests for GM review and monitor store/company licenses and registrations for updates.
- Cover Receiving back door security, analyze and evaluate expense management, and assist other Managers with shrink opportunities.
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure a clean, safe customer experience.
Requirements
- Proven management and leadership experience, preferably with a combination of education (college or technical school) and hands-on experience.
- Experience handling sensitive people issues, emergency response situations, theft issues, and other serious scenarios.
- Proven ability to set objectives and lead a team to accomplish business goals.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of Central Market University (CMU) training (required).
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, cleaning chemicals, and airborne particles.
- Moderate noise level.
- Lift moderately heavy loads up to 50 lbs. individually, with potential for heavier loads when team-lifting.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and squat.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to push/pull heavy loads of 75 lbs.
