Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Associate - Locum Coverage

About the Role

This position is for a Physician Assistant (PA) providing inpatient cardiothoracic surgery coverage in a hospital setting. The role involves performing comprehensive patient rounds in the CVICU, managing all cardiovascular and thoracic cases, handling emergency department consultations, and providing 24-hour call support from Friday to Monday morning.

Workload includes approximately 8 patients daily, collaborating with a surgeon and two Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) using EPIC EMR.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient rounds in the CVICU
• Manage all cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases
• Handle emergency department consultations
• Provide 24-hour call support from Friday to Monday morning

Requirements

• Vein harvesting certification
• Georgia medical licensure
• Prescriptive authority

Support Structure

You will work alongside a surgeon and nursing staff, with additional support from other APPs. Coverage is on-site with non-restrictive call duties.
