About the role

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support the Kitchen Manager in daily operations. This role contributes positively to the dining experience of campers and guests.

Responsibilities

• Aid in food service preparation as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
• Clean and maintain the kitchen, Dining Hall, and work areas according to health department and industry standards.
• Be willing to assist with menu planning and ordering food and supplies.
• Ensure proper storage of leftovers and unused food after each meal/snack.
• Coordinate the daily work schedule with the Kitchen Manager.
• Complete kitchen cleanup promptly.
• Maintain a professional and exemplary attitude and behavior in the kitchen area.
• Attend and participate in training as assigned.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in personal grooming.
• Assist the Kitchen Manager with other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• At least 3-5 years of food service experience, with some supervisory experience.
• Formal food service training strongly preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
• Dependable, personable, and respectful character traits.
• Ability to lead and motivate staff and volunteers.
• Valid AZ Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends.
