To learn more about us, please see CDTFA Gateway to New Opportunities video Under the general supervision of the Business Taxes Administrator II, the Business Taxes Specialist I (BTS I) serves as a highly skilled knowledgeable business analyst on audit, compliance, and revenue accounting policies and procedures for the Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS) Project. The position requires knowledge of the tax and fee laws and regulations; knowledge and understanding of the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) organizational functions; analytical skills; and the ability to speak and write effectively. The BTS I serves as a business analyst that is well versed in the business processes and will utilize their skills for activities in CROS, which may have significant impact and influence on the CDTFA audit, compliance, and revenue accounting programs. The incumbent identifies potential problems, solutions, and/or alternatives utilizing CROS; and provides guidance on updating and/or creating letters and reports. Supports the coordination to lead complex CROS project activities and facilitates meetings for CDTFA business programs. The incumbent must be able to work efficiently to provide advisory services, recommendations, and resolutions regarding CROS issues to all levels of management within the Department. Eligibility for Promotional Exams In Addition To Meeting The Minimum Qualifications For The Business Taxes Specialist I, Competition Is Limited To Individuals Who Meet At Least One Of The Following Promotional Examination Criteria: Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA, or Are current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years as defined in Government Code 18990, or Are current or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years as defined in Govt. Code 18992, or Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991.
