About the role
The Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a crucial part in expanding Vori's presence in the Pacific Northwest. Reporting to the Regional POD Lead, this position involves prospecting new grocery and specialty market accounts, researching ownership groups, and educating decision-makers about Vori's AI-driven platform.
Responsibilities
- Generate new opportunities daily: Cold call, email, and use social channels to connect with independent grocery stores, markets, and distributors.
- Build the top of the funnel: Identify high-potential prospects through territory research, LinkedIn, Google Maps, and local outreach.
- Book qualified meetings: Schedule and coordinate introductory calls and demos between grocery operators and our Territory Account Executives.
- Collaborate with your TAE: Strategize weekly on territory plans, local events, and creative outreach campaigns.
- Maintain pipeline hygiene: Track activity and engagement in HubSpot CRM to ensure data accuracy and pipeline visibility.
- Experiment and iterate: Share learnings and feedback with leadership and product teams to continuously improve outreach messaging and targeting.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or customer-facing roles (internships count).
- Proven ability to cold call, build rapport, and handle objections with confidence.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities.
- A self-starter mentality — you're scrappy, curious, and energized by building something new.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with HubSpot or similar CRM tools preferred.
- Passion for technology, local business, or the grocery/retail ecosystem a big plus.
- Bonus points for experience in a startup or fast-growing environment, previous exposure to POS, payments, SaaS, or fintech solutions, and a grocery or retail background.
