Overview
NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is looking for a Business Development Representative who functions under general supervision and direction of the Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Business Development/Marketing to plan, direct, and evaluate potential patients through a referral system, in accordance with established policy and philosophy. This role involves building positive relationships with area physicians, physician office staff, hospitals, Community Mental Health Centers, and Skilled Nursing Centers to market our services and educate referral sources for admissions into the facilities.
Responsibilities
- Identifies candidates and potential clients.
- Performs educational in-services and luncheons to potential referral sources and community partners in various settings, including acute care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, nursing homes, residential or day care facilities, or hospitals.
- Provides recommendations as to appropriate levels of care.
- Coordinates with the Intake Department on potential referrals and the admission process.
- Educates clients, family members, referral sources, hospital personnel, external payers, and external case managers about program benefits and services.
- Works as the outreach case manager with internal and external case management and social service teams to provide cost-effective discharge plans for each client.
- Develops relationships with referral sources and educates them on inpatient criteria.
- Prepares and submits activity reports, CRM, routing maps, and monthly reports.
- Provides information necessary to facilitate referrals and subsequent admissions to outside sources.
- Provides outcome data to appropriate personnel within the hospital and to required physicians and their offices.
- Negotiates approval for a client’s stay through effective communication with hospital personnel and providers.
- Assists with discharge planning for patients and families, determining appropriate hospital or community resources for aftercare placement.
- Meets with inpatients to assess psychological status and documentation as needed.
- Communicates with facilities and/or families to report patient progress, needs, concerns, and potential problems.
- Works closely with all members of the healthcare team to develop treatment plans, including discharge plans, based on psychosocial assessments and accepted interventions.
- Facilitates comprehensive discharge plans at the time of initial evaluation, considering age, diagnosis, cultural background, support system, and functional strengths and limitations.
- Provides family/caregiver/facility education in response to identified patient needs.
- Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary case management team as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate literature and attending seminars or conferences.
- Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality, ensuring protection and privacy of health information.
- Displays concern, initiative, resourcefulness, and calmness in emergencies.
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, visitors, and outside referral sources.
- Seeks guidance and complies with all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital policies related to assigned duties.
- Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior, standards of conduct, and protected health information.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and hospital regulations, laws, and policies.
- Some duties may be reassigned at the hospital’s discretion.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or other business field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, or community relations required.
- Experience in behavioral health marketing or healthcare business development strongly preferred.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, verified upon hire.
