About the role

The purpose of the position is to support Business Development by contacting credit union members by phone and offering credit union products and services, adding value to the member’s overall financial experience by championing the credit union’s mission, vision, and core values. Contacts will be made from strategic lead sources which identify opportunities based on the member’s need.

Responsibilities

  • Actively seeks opportunities through outbound sales phone calls to enhance knowledge of products and services as well as member needs and notify members of opportunities available to them through the Credit Union.
  • Identifies financial solutions for new and existing members through open-ended interviewing techniques and utilizing tools (e.g., the credit bureau) to identify appropriate products and services for each member.
  • Presents appropriate features and benefits, explains products and services to meet identified needs, asks for action, and closes or refers (“cross sells”).
  • Opens and closes all types of accounts; accepts applications for membership and ensures that each card reflects the proper signatures.
  • Interviews members, evaluates and originates consumer loan applications.
  • Maintains records and reports to immediate supervisor on a weekly basis.
  • Gains the trust of members by being honest, keeping commitments, sharing information, and treating them with respect; conveying information to members in a clear, compelling way that will positively affect their thoughts and actions.
  • Works with existing SEGs to earn referrals for additional business.
  • Supports the Marketing & Business Development Team events.

Requirements

  • Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

  • Good listening and telephone skills; proven sales skills; analytical and problem-solving skills; planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator, typewriter, and computer keyboard.
  • Ability to make decisions with minimum information.
  • Self-motivated with a strong business acumen.

Pay

$52,000 – $57,000 per year
