About the Role

Under the direction of the CDO/Director of Business Development, the Manager is responsible for delivering and managing the strategies and services of the Business Development (BD) department within the company. This role involves direct engagement in new and continued business development with clients. In collaboration with Practice Area Leadership, the Manager evaluates and adjusts Business Development strategies and plans, recommending changes to philosophy and policy when beneficial to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop new and existing relationships with clients.
  • Provide client management and support to individual sector leaders.
  • Work closely with Practice Area Leadership to develop strategies for identifying and cultivating new clients while maintaining existing relationships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a comprehensive month-by-month calendar of significant dates.
  • Establish a presence with area and sector-specific contacts.
  • Write, contact, and pursue opportunities with new client bases.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Travel as required for client meetings, conferences, and conventions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, administrative studies, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Business Development or Sales within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and multi-task under time constraints.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as needed (mid to heavy travel may be required).

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to handle stressful situations, multi-task, and work under time constraints.
  • Overtime (40+ hours) may be required as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a normal office environment but may require handling stressful situations and working within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets.
