About the role
The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving incremental revenue growth by identifying, opening, and scaling new business opportunities across Northern California. This role is not a traditional territory maintenance position, it is a true hunter role, focused on prospecting, onboarding, and developing new dealer, distributor, and regional account relationships across targeted channels.
Responsibilities
- Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Recruit and onboard new dealers in alignment with annual goals.
- Identify, target, and secure new dealer, distributor, and strategic accounts across territory that align with Chervon’s Professional Construction and Auto/Marine Detailing trade strategy.
- Possess strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills, with the ability to move opportunities from initial contact through onboarding and early growth.
- Earn trust and respect from internal and external stakeholders by consistently demonstrating integrity.
- Manage travel and time efficiently to maximize productivity while adhering to budget constraints.
- Utilize CRM software effectively to maintain detailed records and manage customer relationships.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business development, territory sales, or distributor sales within power tools, construction supply, automotive, marine, or adjacent professional trade industries.
- Demonstrated success opening, developing, and scaling new accounts in a competitive, field-based sales environment.
- Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets, with accountability for revenue growth.
- Direct experience selling into professional trades (e.g., construction, automotive, marine, detailing, specialty trades), not solely retail or distribution-only environments.
- Existing relationships within construction supply, independent tool dealers, detailing distributors, or specialty trade channels strongly preferred.
- Experience launching, rebuilding, or expanding brands within a defined territory is strongly preferred.
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills, with the ability to move opportunities from initial contact through onboarding and early growth.
- Sound business and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate opportunity size, pricing, and long-term profitability.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build high-impact, growth-oriented relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and CRM or related sales software.
