Branch Vice President

About the role
The Branch Vice President is responsible for coaching, developing, and leading all branch employees to achieve individual, branch, and organizational growth goals while delivering exceptional member service experiences and maintaining operational excellence. This position creates, implements, and maintains branch strategies aligned with VyStar’s objectives in a fast-paced environment, develops tactical plans, and establishes branch objectives documented in the annual business plan. The Branch Vice President actively participates in the VyStar Leadership Team, promotes and supports credit union decisions, and builds strong member and community relationships through volunteer and leadership opportunities. The overall success of the branch team is the direct responsibility of the Branch Vice President.
Responsibilities
- Ensure day-to-day branch operations deliver unbelievable service experiences for members and achieve or exceed organizational strategic goals and profitability requirements.
- Train, encourage, enable, and coach employees to embrace VyStar’s Standards of Excellence, Behaviors of Excellence, Being Unbelievable, and the Great 8 Member Service Commitments to establish, maintain, and grow strong member relationships.
- Model all VyStar Excellence behaviors while performing job duties.
- Develop staff for succession planning within the branch network and other lines of business.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Training to ensure recruiting and training curriculum are appropriate, timely, and a positive experience for employees.
- Partner with internal departments dependent upon referrals for success.
- Establish and validate performance objectives for branches consistent with VyStar Excellence and branch scorecards.
- Reinforce appropriate employee activities and behaviors to achieve personal, branch, and organizational objectives, course-correcting when necessary.
- Support the ABM in providing ongoing coaching for direct reports, including side-by-side evaluations, Member Assist Call assessments, monthly performance reviews, and career progression discussions.
- Provide ongoing coaching for ABM, including coach-the-coach evaluations, monthly performance reviews, and career progression discussions.
- Conduct daily team huddles and weekly sales meetings, including training on products and services and skill practice to increase knowledge and comfort with making recommendations to members.
- Prepare or assist with performance appraisals for all levels of Branch Management and indirect reports.
- Support and participate in all Credit Union initiatives and campaigns.
- Analyze data to determine and implement staffing changes and modifications as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures, and perform audits; adhere to solid risk management guidelines in a highly regulated environment.
- Collaborate with Branch Operations Analysts to ensure compliance at applicable locations.
- Exhibit a high degree of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism at all times.
- Work from home during branch closures, such as disaster recovery events.
- Actively lead by example through community service supporting the VyStar brand.
- Create and maintain an inclusive and professional environment where all team members are respected, and diversity is valued.
- Support high school branches and Collegiate employees, including mentoring, training, and development of student interns, and ensuring sound branch operations and compliance.
- Resolve member concerns independently and escalate complex concerns as appropriate.
- Provide counseling to members and employees on financial matters and make appropriate recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned; proactively identify, assess, manage, and report risks within their domain of work to support a healthy risk culture.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years in a customer service, sales, community service, military service, or leadership role required.
- 3+ years’ experience in a lead role within a financial institution required.
