About the role

The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation & operation of laboratory classes whether in-person, virtual or hybrid. The TA2 provides instruction during the laboratory. The TA2 may be called upon to assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes (in‑person, virtual, hybrid)
• Provide instruction during laboratory sessions
• Assist with grading of laboratory assignments and quizzes
• Perform clerical work related to the laboratory class experience
• Work the full laboratory section time plus set‑up, take‑down/cleanup, meetings with the instructor, grading, and other operational activities

Requirements

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade “B” or higher
• Must have taken BIOL301/L within the last 4 years and passed with a grade of B or higher, or have been a previous TA2 for this course in the last 4 years
• Must be cleared and able to start work on or before September 21
• Must be able to work the full laboratory section time plus allow time for set‑up, take‑down/cleanup, meetings with the instructor, grading, and other operational activities

Pay

Wage range: $17.00 – $17.50 per hour
