About the role

The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor & Laboratory Coordinator with preparation & operation of laboratory classes whether in-person or virtual. The TA2 provides instruction during the laboratory and may be called upon to assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes and other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructor and Laboratory Coordinator with preparation and operation of lab classes (in‑person or virtual)
• Provide instruction during laboratory sessions
• Assist with grading of laboratory assignments and quizzes
• Perform clerical work related to the laboratory class experience
• Prepare for lab sessions, attend meetings with instructor or Laboratory Coordinator
• Support overall lab and lecture operations

Requirements / Qualifications

• Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter
• Must be able to start work on or before September 21
• Must have taken and passed BIOL111/L with a grade of “B” or higher within the last 4 years, or have served as a TA2 for this course within the last 4 years
• Must have taken the course they would TA for with a grade “B” or higher (if different from BIOL111/L)
• Must be able to work a laboratory section for the full time the class lab runs, plus allow time for preparations, meetings with the instructor or Laboratory Coordinator, grading, and other operational activities

Pay

Wage range: $16.90 – $17.50 per hour
