About the role

The Teaching Assistant 1 (TA1) serves as the course reader (grader) and academic data clerk for the instructor, handling class record‑keeping, grading, filing, copying, data entry, and other clerical or computer tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Grade quizzes, exams, and assignments.
• Maintain class records, both physical and digital.
• Perform filing, copying, and data‑entry tasks.
• Assist in proctoring class exams.
• Facilitate the lecture or classroom experience for in‑person, virtual, or hybrid formats.
• Support the instructor with lecture and exam preparation.
• Perform other clerical or computer‑related duties as required.
• Work hours may vary week to week.

Requirements

• Must have taken and passed the associated course with a grade of “B” or higher.
• Must be a currently enrolled La Sierra University student for the Fall 2026 quarter.
• Must be able to start work on or before September 21.
• Must have completed BIOL 111 within the last four years with a grade of “B” or higher.
• The course instructor is the direct supervisor and makes the final hiring decision.

Pay

Wage range: $17.00 – $17.30 per hour.
